About Reed Gusciora

Assemblyman Gusciora sponsored the law requiring the State to adopt California “Clean Car” standards for the sale of low emission vehicles; the law mandating that electronic voting machines produce voter-verified paper records; the law eliminating the 100 year old law placing liens on psychiatric patients at state institutions; the law that changed the legal standard in child custody cases to protect the health and well being of a child when abuse has occurred; and the law that streamlines developmentally disabled services through the Departments of Health, Human Services and Education.

In the previous legislative session, Gusciora’s bill to ban cigarette smoking in bars and restaurants was signed into law by then Acting Governor Richard Codey.  Recently, Reed was instrumental in the passage of legislation to establish a needle exchange program to which he was a co-prime sponsor.  Gusciora’s bill to impose a death penalty moratorium was also signed into law.

Not one to shy away from controversy, Assemblyman Gusciora was the prime sponsor of the measure to allow for the medicinal use of marijuana.  He was also the prime sponsor of the recently enacted  bill to mandate the recycling of computers and televisions.

Assemblyman Gusciora was born March 27, 1960, in Passaic.  He attended public schools in Jamesburg and graduated from Jamesburg High School in 1978.  He is currently a resident of Princeton Borough in the Jackson-Witherspoon neighborhood.  He is a member of the Spirit of Princeton Parade Committee and Board Member of the Princeton YMCA.   Mr. Gusciora practices law.
